We are excited to introduce our September Speaker Spotlight, Ronita Boult—a dynamic Disability Awareness Advocate, Educator, and Consultant. With a wealth of experience in advocating for those with complex healthcare needs and disabilities, Ronita brings a unique and powerful perspective to the work she does. As a Certified Peer Mentor, Inspirational Speaker, and Patient Advocate, she uses her personal and professional experiences to educate and empower others.
Professional Expertise and Advocacy
Ronita holds a B.S. in Rehabilitation Services and Counseling and has over 30 years of experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, elderly and disabled veterans, and those facing complex health conditions. Her extensive background includes serving as a Case Manager and providing consultation services to healthcare providers, families, and individuals navigating complex systems of care.
In her role as an advocate, Ronita emphasizes person-centered care, holistic support, and community engagement, with a focus on empowering individuals to achieve independence and quality of life. She has also contributed to the healthcare field by developing online training curriculums for healthcare professionals, caregivers, and individuals, helping them better understand and support the needs of people with disabilities.
Lived Experience and Personal Journey
Ronita's personal story is just as powerful as her professional experience. She has survived significant mental health traumas, natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, and chronic health challenges. As her mother's caregiver for 14 years, Ronita gained firsthand experience navigating various healthcare systems, a journey that ignited her passion for advocacy.
Through her lived experiences, Ronita has become a powerful voice in the fields of trauma recovery and mental health awareness. She has co-authored a book and participated in a documentary, sharing insights into overcoming trauma and navigating mental health systems.
